Tackling Knife Violence – Power to Change Screening

Knife crime is high on the agenda as a matter of public concern, with many young people being caught in a loop of fear and distrust, which fuels their insecurity and leads some to carry knives with them. On Monday evening, there was a screening of Power to Change, a documentary film that looks at the “simplest solution: the innate goodness of a human being, who will make the right choices given the tools and encouragement to do so.” Supported by Celebrate our Similarities, the film was followed by a panel discussion that explore how community groups in Leicester can contribute to awareness of the effects and impact of knife-violence, and the steps we can take to disengage people from this cycle before irreparable harm is done.
