Lucy Stevens is preparing for her exhibition at Leicester Museum. Colour Coded Birds will reinterpret Leicester Museums’ natural science collection. Lucy will explore the museum’s catalogue of British bird skin specimens and challenging traditional narratives on how these specimens are viewed, and showing their value to conservation, education and the arts. Lucy explains how the project is moving forward, and what drives here creative process. From listening to true-crime podcasts, listening to Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, to taking inspiration from the poetry of Naima Penniman, Lucy talks about what her hopes are for this new collection of public art works.
